Whatnot accounting with file import
Import files from Whatnot into KudTax and prepare the data they contain for reconciliation and accounting. You start the import by uploading a file.
Whatnot sells in live streams — by auction, in real time, often dozens of lots closing in one show. The sale price is only fixed at the hammer, not before. That is unfamiliar territory for bookkeeping: there is no basket with a calculated margin, but a series of individual transactions whose revenue only exists at the moment the lot closes.

What to watch for with Whatnot
Revenue arises at the hammer
What governs is the moment the lot closes, not the shipment and not the payout. On shows that run past midnight the hammer therefore falls on the day of the show rather than the day of fulfilment — and at a month end that is the difference between two periods.
Regular live selling is a trade
Recurring selling with an intention to profit is a trade, whatever it started out as. From that point VAT and record-keeping duties apply from the beginning — retroactively, not from the day the penny drops.
