Shopify + KudTax
Connect Shopify with KudTax and automate your e-commerce accounting – no manual Excel work, GoBD-compliant and ready for DATEV.
A Shopify shop takes money through several routes at once: Shopify Payments, PayPal, Klarna, sometimes invoice purchase. Each channel pays out on its own rhythm with its own fee structure. So the turnover in the Shopify dashboard and the total in the bank account essentially never agree — and without the payout detail the difference cannot be explained.

What to watch for with Shopify
Several payment routes, one revenue figure
Shop turnover splits across Shopify Payments, PayPal and Klarna, each paying out separately and at a different lag. Booking only the Shopify payouts represents part of the business, and the rest turns up unexplained on the bank statement.
Gift cards are not revenue
Selling a gift card creates a liability, not revenue; the revenue arises on redemption. Booked as turnover at the point of sale it lands in the wrong period, and the liability never appears on the balance sheet.
Discounts are not all revenue reductions
Shopify reports discounts per line. For VAT what matters is whether the discount reduces the taxable base or is a separate transaction, and subtracting it wholesale from gross turnover produces the wrong tax figure.
